Dear valued customers,
Recently, high-tech criminals have continuously employed sophisticated scams, exploiting information to deceive individuals into providing OTP codes or requesting login to fake websites to appropriate customer accounts and harm the reputation of banks. Some of the recent scams are as follows: 1. Deceiving customers into transferring money: notifying of winning a prize, requiring completion of procedures to receive the prize by depositing money into a designated phone number or transferring a fee to the criminals' account. 2. Requesting customers to provide security information: Creating fake emails sent from International Card Organizations: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB… with content notifying that a transaction has been declined, while you have not conducted any transaction via the card; or emails notifying that your card has been locked and requesting you to provide personal information, card information to activate/unlock the card or requesting additional personal information, card account information via a provided link. 3. Impersonating relatives or friends asking to receive money transferred from abroad. Through this, they request customers to log in to the provided website link using their internet banking username and password, and then enter the OTP code sent by the bank to the customer's phone number or email. 4. Impersonating a VPBank employee requesting customers to provide card numbers, passwords, and OTP codes sent to the customer's phone due to a pending amount that needs to be transferred to the account. 5. Impersonating a VPBank employee notifying that the account has been compromised and requesting account number, password, and transaction OTP. In reality, Banks/credit institutions NEVER request customers to provide personal information or security information such as bank account numbers, ATM PINs, access codes, OTP codes, and Internet Banking passwords via email or phone. Therefore, if you receive such requests, it means that the fraudster is trying to appropriate the customer's assets deposited at the bank. To mitigate risks, VPBank advises customers: ABSOLUTELY: • Do not lend, use, or allow others to manage your bank card. • Do not enter your login information, Internet Banking/Mobile Banking passwords, OTP codes, account numbers… on any website or link other than VPBank's website or other VPBank Online applications. • Do not provide information including Login Account, Password, OTP Code as this is private, confidential information, and the OTP code is only used for confirming transactions. • Do not deposit/transfer money, provide card information, OTP codes upon requests from strange calls claiming to be bank employees or bank partners, or requests to access a strange website. • Set a strong password, do not use familiar information such as phone numbers, dates of birth of yourself and relatives… SHOULD IMPLEMENT: • Remember the unique address when logging in to transfer money at VPBank is: • Regularly change passwords for accessing electronic banking/card services and set passwords according to safety principles. • Always cover the keyboard when entering the PIN on ATM/POS machines, in case someone is watching or recording, and be careful not to store the card and PIN in the same place.
